Is there a recommended protocol regarding the use of teamspeak? In -=DoW=-'s context, what is it to be used for? Just purely for reporting cheaters to admins, or for player to player intel during gameplay? Please enlighten me... thanks!

Well it's supposed to be for player to player intel but since everyone tends to hang out in the same room it's generally used for saying "I seeee yooouu" and "Ouch!"

Its Primary Purpose for any non-dow members is for reporting cheaters, admin questions, etc. But for -=DoW=- members, it is a whole host of things. General banter, team communication in-game, squad conversations, command discussions, and whatever else we can think of using it for. But Innox is right, it is mostly used for "Holy :_censore:, where the :_censore: did that come from" and " :_censore: that hurt!" At least, thats what I usuall use it for when i am on there :D

So just to clarify, for lowly wannabe's like me it's only for use to report cheaters etc... but once you sillyheads invite me in, I can have fun like the rest. (It did allow me to login w/ my forum credentials, FYI)
Roger, thanks

The question came up the other night about if anyone (non-clan affiliated) was allowed to join teamspeak for general gaming purposes. I have talked with Acedeal and he confirmed that we may invite anyone to join our teamspeak channel. You would need a teamspeak server admin or channel admin present to grant them rights in order to register (allowing that person to rome from the "Admin on Duty" channel).

RULES for Team speak
1. Team Speak is only a tool, It will not be used in place of the dow-sniper.net forums for official -=DoW=- business. Even if you talked to Command on Team Speak you still have to check in through the Platoon Forums. -=DoW=-‘s survival requires everyone’s participation so if you get a great idea, don’t just Team Speak it, go make a post on the forums where everyone can read it.
2. While in a game you must be in the appropriate channel (assault channel for Assault and defense channel for Defense). You may not switch channels to spy on the opposition.
3. While using Team Speak if you die, you should report to the Graveyard on team speak. If agreed on by both sides you may stay in the on the Team Speak channel that you are on without going to the graveyard, but YOU MAY NOT SPOT FOR TEAM MATES AFTER YOU DIE. It is easy to cheat here, so lets keep our integrity intact.
4. Spend some time setting up Team Speak, bind (Drop down Menu Push SETTINGS then KEY SETTINGS) keys to make it more efficient to change channels while in the game. (I use [alt][A] for assault, [alt][D] for defense and [alt][G] for graveyard) I have set up each server channel group the same so that the binds should work fine within each channel group.
5. Set your mic to activate only when you speak, or better yet use push to talk button setting. If you use the center mouse wheel or button, be sure to disable that key in the AAO controls. Open mics are a real annoyance and make a channel almost unusable to everyone but the offender.
6. Don’t yell in Team Speak, It’s hard sometimes with all the action, but a little discipline goes a long ways here. I find it is better to have the mic turned down a bit, and you can talk louder when needed, where as if the mic is to loud, people are reaching for the mute player tab.
7. Be careful of what you say, it’s to easy in voice communication to offend people, so respect other people's feelings and cultures. This tool should make us closer. Remember, except in locked channels people can drop in and hear before you realize they are there.
These rules are only a draft, but we will use them until made official
These are the Rules according to SM Padgett..
