View Full Version : Making room for members

ADMINS:
When a member asks for room on any -=DoW=- server, we ask for volunteers to leave to make room. Notice I said ASK. If noone volunteers, then the lowest honor goes. Don't ask then 10 seconds later kick, wait a round or two, maybe ask again. If noone has volunteered at this point, then find the lowest honor and make room.
MEMBERS:
When you ask for room on a -=DoW=- server, you need to be ready to join right away, willing to wait a few rounds to join, and you had better play for more than a few rounds.
I don't want to see or hear about this again:
Admin is asked to make room for two -=DoW=- members. Admin asks for volunteers, one says he will go. This individual has been playing on the server for quite some time and has been having fun and being an outstanding all around patron of -=DoW=- servers. He leave for one member to join. The second to go is the lowest honor due to lack of volunteers. The two members now have room and join the server. They play for 10-15 minutes, then say "I am going to go" for whatever reason and they leave. Niether member was there for a full set of rounds.
If you want to join our servers and they are full, you need to be ready to play for a while. Otherwise, wait until a spot opens on it's own. It is extremely rude, to ask someone to leave for no reason what-so-ever.
If I see/hear about this again, the member will forfiet any right to ask for room from that point on. They will have to wait until a spot opens just like non-members.
The only exceptions: 1- Emergencies
2- Admins that are pulled away for admin duties
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

No questions here. I was the admin asked to make room for members. I asked for volunteers. One left on his own, another got kicked several rounds later.
What ticked me was the 2 people I asked to make room for left with 3 or 4 rounds. Not matches but rounds.
I for one will never do that again

Hunt it sound good to me.
I remeber when we would ask 2-3 times for room, is this changed?
I like youre idea but what if it takes time to get in to the server and then something comes up and the person has to leave for what ever reson.
Just asking I'm not trying to start any thing. lol

Very good Hunt.
If we kick players for room then don't leave 3 rounds later thats rude.
If you ask for room be ready to get in make sure you have the map loaded in your memory by first joining a empty server, than it loads faster.
Please do not mess it up for players that wanting to play more.

what do you mean "map loaded in memory?"
it does sound good hunt. that's why i usually just wait cause i don't know how long i can play.

Just a suggestion, but if you join in "spectate" mode you know when a spot opens immediately, and when you reconnect, the game loads much faster. I believe this is essentially what Cecoto was saying.

I usually have our player or player's stand bye ready then tell them to join at least
3 sec's before I pull the plug on a player(in game)..That way they get in before an outsider
But as most of the guys who have played with me know I always ask players,
Three times with a gap of at least a minute or two with a warning that the lowest honour will go first...

Sounds good to me. Interesting idea Hari, I never thought about trying that before. Gives your PB a chance to verify faster also.

I have to side with Wiz on that issue...I don't think our members should be penalized if they ask for room and then have something come up that requires them to leave the server...The other thing that bothers me a little is that it seems that guests get preferential treatment over members.. I fully agree that we need to as for volunteers to leave to make room for a member at least a couple times, but it is after all our server.

While I do agree that things come up, I've had to leave games myself for some emergency or another, it happens and as such is no problem at all. The situation that led to this was a member joined the server and within a few rounds left to go hang out offline. No emergency nothing.
All that is being said here is, if you are only going to be around for a few minutes don't ask to kick someone to make room for you.

I have to agree with resq..
We as a clan are going to look more than a bunch of monkeys
if we go kicking people for our guys to play then after a round or
4 they leave making us look like goons...
It aint rocket science...
As for guest's, I dont make room for players that come in TS out of the blue.
Unless they have an app or they are from a clan of high standing to that of our own...

My apologies guys. I'm one of the players. This won't happen again on my end. If I ask for room and am denied. I understand. I won't excuse my actions. Guilty is guilty.
Edit; Just remember tho. I also said I would wait. That it wasn't necessary that someone be removed from the server.

Alle I didn't think it was you and, to be honest, felt no need to bring any names into it anyway. Just struck me at the time that this was not the way we wanted to be viewd by people we want on our servers.
I'm sorry if I made anyone feel guilty, didn't intend to do that.

Nor did I. That was not the intent of this. It is intended to make it clear how all -=DoW=- members need to conduct ourselve in sight of the general public.

I think it was just to try and make -=DoW=- a better running family and to be liked by all are friends new and old.

Well 1st and foremost I would like to thank Alle for stepping up {Truly shows what kind stuff DoW is made of.} And yes we do have the privelige and the responsibilty to set the standards that all clans should live up to. { Might sound a little bigheaded of me but thats just the way I see it!!} What can I say other than I am proud to be part of what I see as one of the finest clans in AAO!!!!!

I also take responsibility for my actions and don't try to hide behind the clan name as a "member". To a large degree its my attempt to not have the clan pay a price for my actions when they are just that. I've always been this way. It's part and parcle to who I am as a person. I've always tried to help the clan become better. Not pay for my mistakes is all.
