Well, processor just flat-out fried.
Or, at least, that's what I'm thinking it is.
In any case, my computer just shut down spontaneously on its own, and wouldn't come back up.
Processor don't look too great. Might not be it, but it still doesn't look good.
And the entire system felt pretty dang hot when I popped it open.
All except for the intake vents on the case, of course.
So, anyone know where to get a cheap CPU?

http://www.tigerdirect.com usually has pretty good prices, but for CPUs I think the price will be pretty much the same everywhere for the newer models.

Not sure what the budget is but Directron.com usually has some good deals.

One thing www.outpost.com is the same as Fry's Electronics. They have a store here in Houston TX. And I know for a fact that they repackage returned items and resell them at full price as new. They are also very had nosed about returning those items, but when you buy them you don’t know they have been returned. Not sure if they run outpost.com that way or if it's just the management in charge of the Houston store but I felt I should share that.

I have been to Fry's Electronics an hundred times, your right about selling returned items as new and at full prices , but they come with the FULL manufacturers warranty and can be returned as well. Anytime I buy something from them I always ask for an unopened one and if I'm not happy with the packaging I request a different one. I never had a problem. For outpost.com I'm not sure, but their prices are great.

Smokie. Dunno my exact mobo specs. I'll have to look 'em up next time I get to come online. On my way out right now.

If you wanna check it out, I can tell you it's made by BioStar, and it's one of those DDR/PC133 setups that can take either type of RAM. Has integrated everything, takes ATX power, VIA chipset, Socket A CPU, ATA 133.

That's all I can tell ya off the top of my head.
