Hmm! probably the same reasons drive them that drive your navy with the flat tops.
Who can say :!: Its the first time I have ever heard of these subs they havent even been on the news..

That thing was HUGE!!! And I can completely understand why. If we stop producing and upgrading our military, then we would eventually be in VERY bad shape.

Just look at Japan. The used to be a naval superpower; however, under the terms of surrender (WWII) they were barred from building up there military. Until recently, if they had been attacked, they would have been pretty much defensless if not for the U.S.A. They are now rebuilding some of there fleet; however, they are so far behind in military technology, that they are relying heavily on the UK and US.

That, my friends, is why they built that mammoth.
