Hey all:

Here is an update on my hunt this last week. Be patient long download, 3 pictures.

Here are a couple of pix of my harvesting of a 382 lb bone fide Russian Razorback Boar using your 450 gr. banded solid. I loaded it in a Hornady case with 45 gr of H335, CCI primer, and seated to an o.a.l. of 2.918. Velocity clocked at 1594 sec. at 12' distance. Had to single load this round in a Marlin 1895 GS as it is too long for the magazine. Temperature never got above 25 degrees and light flurries; but with all my fat I was warm. Shot distance was approximately 40 meters.

This was taken at Bear Mountain Lodge in the Upper Michigan Peninsula. Head shot between the eyes (actually I missed, it was over the left eye) came out the back of the neck, bullet still moving, not recovered.

The guides never saw a boar downed in the spot he was hit, they usually ran of a few feet or yards, but this one was anchored on the spot. I love these Barnes Solids.

I had a marvelous time.

What do you need in the US to go for hunting?? In Denmark you need a license for hunting, and a police permit for the gun.

well if you are in the alleys or the parking garage you dont need anything.

that one was for jb.

you need a license and for most animals it has to be the right season to hunt but i dont hunt any more so i dont have the details.

In most states you need either a Big game license or a Small game license, depending on what you are hunting. Licenses in most states require the completion of an approved Hunter Safety Course before obtaining a hunting license of either type. Permits for ownership of rifles are not required in most states, but permits for pistols usually are. Rifle permits are not required to hunt. In Arizona, every person who wishes to purchase a weapon has to be cleared through the NCIS to determine if they are eligible for ownership. Criminals, domestic violence history, mental illness, etc. are some of the reasons for refusal. Approval just allows you to purchase, there are no permits. You will need a permit if you wish to obtain a CCW (Concealed Cary Weapon), and you have to pass an accredited 8 hour course. I think I covered it al from my experiences.

VIP course, 3 day of 8 hours. You learn when and what to hunt, and to handle your riffle. But they run only in spring or autumn. And you have to wait in line for it. They try to restrict the numbers of hunters in Denmark!!
Guns have to be registered at the police. The rules to registered at the police, are the same as in the US!! But the hole thing is a little expensive, gun and the course!!!
Many hunters takes in trips to Sweden (Moose) or to Poland (Razor Back), we don't have those in Denmark.
