I did not think it would take them very long to lock down this topic.
For some reason they just refuse to address the issue publicly on cheating or tools to keep cheaters at bay.

Well so be it,
We'll use what ever tools we find to keep the cheaters off our servers come hell or high-water..Or we'll shut down the SCI servers and go back to private servers.

That was totally awsome Ace...Just reading it from a 3rd person view.. If I were not in DoW and I read what was posted, I would still agree with you and Ds on your points...They don't have control and it seems they don't really care.

I think this is a arguement you can not win. No matter what, DarkCntry and DEV people will take the moral high ground on the current situation involving how DOW catch cheaters. Although i do support the way you do it, this is only because i have played on DOW and seen how much difference it makes. So what do ya do now?

We continue to do what we always have. We'll use the tools at are disposal, and if the Dev's have an issue with it, they can take the matter up with SCI.

Of course then, we start dealing with private commerce, etc.. Until we violate our agreement with SCI, then homelan / Army / etc. has nothing to say to us.

Until they find a way to keep the servers clear of cheaters, I will exercise my rights that I am paying for, to keep the servers clear of cheaters, and I will use whatever tools I feel necessary to do so..

I would like to point this out, DarkCntry said Either way, running a PB enabled server will detect the hacks because they are that, hacks. Whether you use them for 'good or evil', they're still hacks and PB will detect and kick/ban for them.



Now, if his is right then you could just have your server not be PB enabled and the admins could uses there cheats. Maybe just turn PB on when there is no admin no and turn PB off when there is a admin on who will be using cheats to watch someone.

Lets face it, if punkbuster will be released in July, a hack will be released the week after, which won't be detected. Your method works best, but heres a idea....

If you can convince DEV to let you use continue using your hacks, you may well be able to combine PB and your hacks. Which could be unstoppable.....

I was wondering one thing....What do they use to catch cheaters?? How come it is not available to other admins...private admins....maybe they are using hacks to catch cheaters too and are afraid they will get caught so that is why they are making a big deal of it.

I beleive they have their own software and methods, which don't run 24/7 so that it makes it harder for the cheat creators to reverse engineer it. I THINK that's what is going on.

At the moment AGA admins have no tools to catch people using hacks and cheats other than to observe suspected players in game and make a judgement call. AGA admins do not police SCI (leased) servers which is what has burned my ass about their attitude towards the steps we have taken. When PB is released it will form part of the game software on servers and will scan the memory of players pc's for hack software that is running. Apparently it will have the ability to take a screenshot of what the player is viewing (i.e. crosshairs) for proof of cheating

Just ignore the HomeLAN folks.
The EULA says it's illegal to modify the game code.
The hack you all use against the cheaters does not modify the game code in any way. Personally, I don't use the hack anyways, because I can tell from the screen motions when someone is cheating or not. A few probably slip through, but i'd rather let a few mild cheaters slip through than ban an innocent player.
As far as punkbuster goes, you won't need to use the hack anymore.
PunkBuster allows the admin to take screenshots of a suspect player. If they player is using cheats the PB doesn't already block, it will show up.
And don't drop the SCI servers, if everything I've read is correct, they're going to have the fastest AA servers soon.

EDIT: Just in case I would check the GoAmericasArmy TOS, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't say anything about using hacks to catch cheaters.

Not a subject we take lightly.."Cheaters" are ruining the game for a lot of people.
We are trying to make the game fun, but it's getting harder and harder to play on a fair and level field due to the 13-17/18 year old leet d00ds.
