Hard drive problems

Does anyone know if there is anyway of getting some data off of an old hard drive that i Think is corrupt, It wouldn't load when inside my old laptop now ive got it out i would like to get some old files off of it but when i connect it to the pc it just says it needs to be formatted before use.


Any clues will do.

The only way I know of is to send it off to a company that specialize in this. Have tried on my own several times to no success.

Down side is these companies are rather costly.

Guess it boils down to how much the data is worth to you.

I have a buddy that is able to get info off a hard drive I will ask him what he use's and let you know.
