www.pricewatch.com but the GF FX would be good if you have $200 to spend, don't know how much they run though

Ok, my recommendation would be a Non-MX card. Grab a GeForce4 Ti4200 or something, they should run around 200$ or so. GeForceFX's are not really worth buying unless you go for the 5600 series or up, which i think are just out of your budget. I would see if you can grab a few more dollars and grab one (5600), but if not, get a Ti4200. If it says GeForce4 MX - Dont get it, get a GeForce FX5200 over that. Check out Ebay too, you never know. I don't go there cause i know i'll go bankrupt. Good luck.

The FX series starts out at 128MB. They don't make a FX 64MB card.

Ok I have convinced my friend to spend up to $300 on a video card. Whats the best choice, is 8x AGP an good choice to go with for future upgrade of motherboard and processor. Alos looking at possible all-in-wonder, are these any good.

Just about anything new is AGP8x these days, and will eventually make a difference. You should be able to get a Radeon 9700 Pro for close to 300$ US i think now, and that would be what i would recommend. That or the Hoover, i mean GeForceFX 5800. If not, a 5600 will likely do the job. As for AIW, if he wants to to capture TV shows, Time Shift, Digital VCR type stuff, the AIW series can't be beat. Depends on how much he will use those features. You could also just grab a TV tuner card for 50$ for basic TV and Digital VCR stuff.
These links are a little dated, but may provide a little insight.

I think im gonna go with the FX 5200 on this one. They do make a 64MB version Smokie, but i think its only for the 5200 Series.

Hi guys, it's been a long time. I just want to say that I have an FX5200 Ultra (go with PNY at the very least) XP1800+, 256MB DDR on a Win2k system and I have turned the graphics on full for most of my games with no problems. I admit it is not the best card out there, but I had $200 to spend and for $180 plus tax this is not a bad card - blew the hell out of my GF 4.

Radeon is a good card... since I got my Radeon 9500 Pro I have had alot less problems than when I was using my GeForce4 MX440. helps alot when the Radeon had drivers that were xp certified where Geforce didnt..
