#29 Interview With [Dev]Abraxas
MS- With the new UT 2004 coming up will it influence the progress of AmericasArmy? Will there be another code drop because of this? Describe some of the features that may have an impact on AA.
[DEV]Abraxas - It is unlikely that we will ever do another code merge that is of the magnitude that moving up to version 2110 was. However, as new features and fixes for the engine become available, we will selectively merge in code that we feel will be useful to us. At the moment though, the UT2K4 additions are not relevant to what we are currently working on. As the game progresses, we will continue to evaluate the situation and if we see a need for something in that code base, we will surely make use of it.
MS- Is there ever going to be a stamina system implemented?
[DEV]Abraxas - The next version of the game will come with a stamina bar, although it will not drastically change gameplay. The inclusion of medics into the game made it necessary to decouple certain effects from the Combat Effectiveness Meter, so a stamina bar was added to compensate.
MS - . Will punkbuster eliminate all cheaters they can find or will it only catch cheaters on servers that punkbuster is running on?
[DEV]Abraxas - I'm not sure I understand this question. Obviously, Punkbusters will only detect cheaters on servers that are running Punkbusters, and naturally it will eliminate all cheaters that it can detect.
MS - Will there be a medic cross or something of identification on the combat life saver's uniform?
[DEV]Abraxas - The medic will be equipped with a medical backpack.
5. This post made in the America's Army forums about SCI upgrading their systems tremendously (http://www.americasarmy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?topic=64602&forum=15), is that the reason why SCI had moved to a new facility?
[DEV]Abraxas - I do not have technical details about SCI's operations. While I believe that the upgrade they performed and their move to a new facility are related, I am not in a position to give specific details regarding the situation. For those answers, I recommend contacting SCI directly.
MS - Are there any open spots for beta?
[DEV]Abraxas - We periodically add more beta members to the team as the need arises. To ensure the highest quality, our selection process has become much more strict than in the past. While it is unlikely that we will ever have an open enrollment like we did in the past, we are always keeping our eyes open for quality people to help us in the testing process. Ultimately, [Dev]Mayme is in charge of the Beta Team, and he is responsible for adding new members.
