FYI.
As you know we have a new home for our Battalion. So I made a new layout for the web.
It's the Flash Intro and the starting page only. All links are without function yet.
 Check it out... (http://www.dow-sniper.net/dow)
Needs a little fine tuning, but I like... hehe

Hey Lonely,
I just checked it great work you did there. But imagine what i been doing whole day today. Lol. Im sitting in front of Flash and trying to do an intro myself. But i like yours a lot. So i will have time to go and snipe some now.
How about hiding the enter to the site so its unvisible and one has to look for it with a scope? I am trying to do that right now. With a good lens function where lens looks like a scope it works.
Great work again. What would we do without ya.

Activate Active X / Java
(set the security options of your browser to medium)
I added a Flash Menu to the starting page (first page after Flash Intro). Please let me know, if anyone has problems with it.
i.e. not starting etc.
In that case, I will remove it from the page and will return to a boring html Menu.
Also, I added some features in Flash and Java. To see all this stuff you have to activate Active X and Java in your browser and you have d/l the Flash Plugin. This d/l will start automatically when you're entering the web site.

I removed all Flash and Java elements from the site.
So there should be no more problems with it.

But.... d00d... the Flash/Java stuff was SCHWEET!!!
What did you have to do that for?!?!
Lonely
November 3rd, 2002, 07:21
Hey Coby.
I did it, cos some guys couldn't see the Flash stuff. No idea why, maybe it's too difficult to set the browser parameters. hehe
But it's no biggy for me = less work

November 3rd, 2002, 13:10
Reason they couldn't see it...just ask vicky! :D
Have them go to Macromedia.com and download the Flash component to their webbrowser. I had the same problem as they did, went to macromedia, and BOOM  full and living color.
Also, if they are using 56k modems  , they may have trouble with the site.
Just a suggestion for you lonely... How about making the intro page a selection page...
(Flash - enter here) (Non-Flash - enter here)
...like that.
Then people that love and like to show off the intro to others can see it, and people that don't care can just get on the site.
Just my three cents
Lonely

Vicky.
They don't have to go to Macromedia.com. If their browser setting are OK, they will be asked to download while entering the page.
The site will run with 56k dialup also. No big files in there. I prepared the Intro (preloader) to wait until the the whole file (swf) is downloaded. So that's no prob.
I can't make the choice Flash - No Flash cos i added Flash stuff to the web page. i.e. the menu was Flash and some other features. But this stuff is removed now.
So if you want me to add the Flash and Java stuff back to the page:
Check your Browser Settings
And if ya have questions. Ask me or anyone else who is familiar with this stuff. huh

Hey some out there,
I am really mad. We have a dow member who is working that much time, to present us a great flash intro and a fabulous webpage. He didnt play at all for a long period, went to sleep sometimes late at night, or early in the morning. Used all of his spare time to work for dow. And how do we thank him for that? With saying hey i dont have time to change my browser settings. Great guys.
I dont know who is that, but apparantly some are unable to view flash.
Cmon dudes, plz respect our dow member Lonely and his great work for our clan.
Changing the settings or downloading a plugin takes at most just a couple of minutes. He had to work a lot of hours. I dont want to bet with you, but i guess it was over 100 hours of work.
And just because some of you out there, are unable or unwilling to spare a couple of minutes, he had to work all that time for nothing? Dont tell me that.
Most of you spend a lot of time playing AA, play a couple of minutes less, and respect his work, by changing your settings.
I am very dissapointed with some of you.
I want the flash and java back as soon as possible. I want to hear more opinions like that in here, so post them. RESPECT THE work Lonely is doing.

,I have just the thing to fix it for you, The problem is that some do not have the correct ver of Flash Player Plugin installed. I have a script that will look to see if the correct ver is installed if so it will pass to your flash, if not they get a choice of upgrading or going to a plane Html site... I'll Look for it for you, I had the same problem When I used to run a lot of flash... I'll post When I find it.

Ok,
I have the latest flash viewer on my computer and I do not see any flash on that page ? do you still have it disabled or is it working ?
Also the link does not work for me, I have to take the "Dow" portion out to get to the page ?
BTW what I do see looks very good, just no flash

Okay, right now I'm too tired to doublecheck anything up for you, Learjet, but here's the info as I last knew it.
The proper link for our website is http://www.dow-sniper.net/
And yes, the Flash stuff is still off :(
IsZi
November 4th, 2002, 18:04
Okay, I lied... I went ahead and checked the link Lonely had originally posted. Yeah, taking out the last "dow" would fix it, but so would adding ".html" or ".htm" (can't remember which it is/was) to the end of it, since (at least when the flash was enabled) that was the name of the file used as the dow-sniper.net index page.

What ver of flash did you use to make it? MX, 5.0?
If you used Flash Mx, This will most likely fix the problems for you...
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/download/deployment_kit/
After downloading it just reat the directions it will trll you how to use it and install it....
Note: this is good to have even if you used other versions of flash too...
You can thank me later.... :D

No need to add anything to the end of the browser string unlesss you are going to a certain page.
All browsers by default will look for,
index.htm
index.html
home.htm
home.htlm
I forget what order they look for the main page, but if you just put in:
www.dow-sniper.net it will load the main page that we want ya to see.
if you wanted to go to like the recruiting pages you would put:
www.dow-sniper.net/recruit.htm as an example..
as a side note,
I upgraded to XP and I can not see the flash either,, I can view it with frontage, dreamweave MX, or FlashMX, but some reason my browser will not load it either.. and i have secutiry set to default...
Yes, I have java, active X, and the rest turn on...

Hey mates.
IM in Canada.
Acedeal is right. You don't need to add anything to the link.
Just put in:
http://www.dow-sniper.net
or
http://dow-sniper.net
Both will work fine.
I will figure out what's going on with the flash stuff.
Mavric
It's nothing special. It's made with Swish. Swish is 100% Flash 5.0 compatible. No elements of Flash MX added. So it has to run.
Will download the Kit. maybe this will solve the problems.

I am running flash 6, I think that is what version got installed with DreamWeaver MX and Flash MX..
One sytem runs 98, and 2 systems run XP.
On the XP systems it will not load the the top flash for the active menus..
Not sure why, but it may be something that I need to look into further with this XP.
Have not tried it on my linux systems yet, I have netscape, komodor, etc browsers install on my RH systems..
Will let ya know..

did you try installing the deployment kit on the site yet?
That will detect if your flash player piugins are the right ver...
Other then that I dont know, I run XP and dont have problens with any ver of flash since I up-dated the plugin... Try that... If that dont work I dont know what to tell ya.

Not sure what is going on.
I can view every other site that has flash, i can edit flash, yet something about that one flash we have install http://www.dow-sniper.net/dow.swf I can not load in browser. What's wild is all the other flash we have works fine. Just that one flash stops the browser in it's tracks.
I can load it in dreamweave.
Can not load it on Frontpage though.
Oh well, I'll just have to put my slave, errr (lonely):) to work making 2 sets of pages. Flash none flash.
Well, guess he really would not have to make 2 sets of pages, just can do an <include> statement on them if = flash then put the flash in the headers of pages
(Now if someone can give me a tutorial how to run that pig dreamweaver we'd be having some wild pages :) I've seen bell and whistles b4, but that dreamweaver is something else..<br>

So ,

LOL, I'll look for the lessions though..

OK fellas and female fellas of course, Flash is back.
Added the Deployment Kit from Macromedia. This should fix all problems.
The tool will check the installed version of Flash of your system. If not installed, it will prompt you a link to download the latest version (6.0). All done automatically. So there is no need to visit any site or download the plugin on your own.
Go here to check it out. www.dow-sniper.net/flash Hope it's working now, so we can put it back to www.dow-sniper.net
And if I'm in a good mood I will add a non flash site also. For those guys who are not interested in multimedia features etc. huh
Special Thanks to -(Oc)-Mavric for his help.

I think 99% of the users can now see the flash, if not, lonely is in the process of setting some stuff up, it will auto download the flash.
If they chose not to view the flash, then they can send me money to pay for the extra storage :)
Let's see Paypal link goes ===========>>>>>>>>>HERE
