I think my video card is going down the tube. For about a week now my computer has been crashing on me. The system will lock up for a few minutes and the go into suspend mode by itself. When it comes out of suspend the resolution is set to 640x480(normally set at 1280x1024) the color is at 16 bit and there is a message that basically says there was a hardware crash. I have checked the monitor, and cable they are fine. I have deleted the drivers, pulled the card out and then reinstalled everything. I have an ASUS 8170 DDR w/64mb. I have all the windows updates and the latest reference drivers from Nvidia. I recently upgraded the mobo(DFI LAN Party II), CPU, and harddrive. I never had this problem on my old mobo. Someone let me know if I have a different problem.

I would ask the guys at DFI if there are any issues with that video card.

The m otherboard you got is AGPx8, the vide card you got is not, maybe that has something to do with it?
In bios you may be able to reduce to AGPx4 see if that is more stable.

Failing that sounds like video may not be healthy, but i would try the above first inc what MM said!!

Hope that helps

I thought at first that might be the case Father, but I turned off AGPx8 support and it still crashes. I am still in the process of scouring tech forums for a possible answer and will try the DFI site. Thanks guys

You wont find anything on the lanparty site, but there may be help on the DFI site, also try the modding computer stores, they generally have a forum which as we know are very informative

Good luck. If you have a spare vid card (PCI) you could try that in with the AGP Slot unused..............could work....

It is not my video card. I borrowed an ATI 8500LE card from a friend and it did the same thing. From near as I can tell from the tech forums it is a ram issue when set up to use the Dual channel. The ram that I have installed is Crucial 512MB DDR PC3200. I have 2 sticks. I have taken them out of dual cahnnel and am running them in single channel hopefully that will fix it.
