Well, my wife has been screwing around on the computer (again) and tweaking settings I wish she'd just leave the hell alone. So... how do I keep Internet Explorer from automatically opening every ZIP file I download? I want the OPTION to open or save, but now it just pops 'em open for me.

I am only guessing, never had that before, but goto IE/tools/Internet Options/Advanced and click the restore defaults button. Not sure if the info is hecl in there, but you could also try Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder options/File Types and see what is set as default program fro *.ZIP files, then change back to Winzip or whatever, hope that sorts you out!! :banger:

winzip also has a feature in it to reassociate zip files with it.

Open Windows Explorer (File System.. not Internet..) go to tools and .. um..
File Types I think.
Go and get a cup of coffee while the file association table loads.
Find the file type you want to change in the list, select it and click
"Edit" (I think. I'm doing this from memory.)
You should see a checkbox in the dialogue that comes up "Confirm before
download" or similar. Check this.

Alternately, just right click the link to the file and select "Save Target
As..." in your browser. (Bummer if the file is on some sort of auto
redirect though!)

Hope this is some help.
