Hi,

I've just been playing "Bridge" and was using the SVD sniper rifle. After firing some shots and missing at extreme close range, I was asked if I was using an automatic.

True, the rifle has a sort of auto capability but I was not using it as such. I was kicked from the server WITHOUT warning or being given chance to explain myself and my side of the events.

Before my screen blacked, I did notice that member "Dow-Lonely" was administering the server.

Frankly, if you're going to be as petty as that then I don't want to come back. I am now giving notice that my application to join DOW is now officially WITHDRAWN.

C3h5,
Thanks for taking the time to inform us of your decision to withdrawal your application.

Not sure if you were kicked or my sever just dropped you. But for future references if you would like to have an issue investigated, before making accusations why not ask first if you were kicked banned, being picked on, or just plain disliked.

It would be helpful to give a few more details, as an example;
What Time
Date
I have all logs, and can check your name to see if you got kicked, banned or what have you.

Just as an FYI;
If you are interested in finding out what happened, then please use the contact form
Contact Us (http://www.dow-sniper.net/contact.htm)

send me a note with your questions, and I will 90% of the time get back with you on the issue in 24 hours or less.

Thanks,
And have a great game day..Because after all, it's only a game:

I can assure you that I was kicked ... it flashed up so before it disconnected.

Thanks for the proper reply. I need some anger management I think.

I was admin and I saw you shooting pretty fast, and also saw that one player asked if you are using an automatic.
AND I didn't kick for that reason, maybe for another reason (I don't know if I kicked you. have to look in the server.log file to make sure).
Possible that the game crashed.

In case I kicked you, I did it for some reason - you violated our rules.
That is the way we handle this.
We kick players and when they come back we tell them what they did wrong.

Note:
If you or anyone else has a problem with our server / admins send him a mail or send a mail to the Battalion Command Group. No need to post this in the forum.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm reasonably aware of the rules you conduct on your server and I appreciate them.

However, it is true that the SVD sniper rifle can be fired reasonably quickly while still being a sniper. Is the SVD now banned because of this or just firing quickly? The rules aren't terribly specific about this.

The SVD is allowed as a sniper rifle, and is usually the weapon of choice, if things get close up. Just don't abuse the semi-auto capabilities. We're here to snipe, not run-and-gun.

Thanks,
I'll check the log, and post back.
If it was a kick the log will show it...

:) Least it was not a ban, that makes more work for me

C3h5,

Here is what was in the log.
While I do not require my admins to keep track of who they kick, (they are required to keep track of who they ban and why). An admin may kick 15 20 30 people in rapid succession and that would be way to much work to keep track of who they kicked and for the reason.

(They can pretty much kick for what ever reason they want too, but it's a different story on banning someone).

So there is really no telling why you got kicked (unless the admin told you before hand that he was kicking you), but yes admin did kick you (whether on purpose or due to the lack of checks on the admin control panel who knows...

While I am not going to try and explain all the messed up stuff with the admin control panel, depending on if admin was in the process of kicking someone, and that someone leaves, just as he is about to kick him, that POS admin panel will kick the next person on the list.

Look at this way, even if admin did kick you, what did you lose but about 2 mins of your game time if that??.

Only reason we even remotely care about a kick is if we have to kick you over and over for simple rules violations, then on about the 3 round of kicks, you get banned.

As you can see by the below logs, it really does not tell much and you pretty much have to know what it is you are looking for in this convoluted mess they call log files.

DevNet: Login request: Entry.aao?Name=2good4U?Class=AGP_Characters.AGP_Ch aracter?team=255?Checksum=NoChecksum

Just show's that you got kicked, if admin does not remember why then who knows why.

As I side note:
:stick: I kick my own members of -=DoW=- without warning when they misbehave  Not to say that you were, things happen it's a game after all.

My policy:

Something directly affecting the game in progress -

1st time - Kick
On Return - Enlighten (Tell them what they did, and cite the rule applying to the situation.)
2nd time - Kick (Or ban. Depends on what it is, and the player's attitude.
On Return - Give final warning.
3rd time - Ban

Something not affecting the game in progress:

1st time - Warn
2nd time - Kick
On Return - Give final warning.
3rd time - Ban

That's my general policy. Other Admins probably handle situations a little differently, but I think most probably follow something kinda like this.

Okay, now I am proved wrong.

My apologies for snapping, it was unwarranted.

I'll shut up now.
