I don't know the title track but having watched it you will never again hear Springsteens 'Born in the USA without choking up. Released in 1988 it stars Robert de Niro, Robin Williams, Willem Dafoe, Judd Nelson, Kathleen Turner, Ellen Burstyn.

The only time I have ever seen an entire cinema reduced to tears, it has 32 reviews on Amazon and all are 5 stars.

If you have not seen it, I cannot recommend it highly enough, and have just ordered a copy from Amazon.

Any ideas?

In 1988 Robert De Niro only made one movie: "Midnight Run"....... but here is a list of his movies:

My favorite war movie ever: "Saving private Ryan" :D

Robert de Niro is Definitely in it and its 1988. Also in it are Sean Penn, Robert Downey and Martin Sheen. Think outside the box

I've been searching every name youve mentioned on http://imdb.com and with very few exceptions most of those actors have never worked together around 1988 at least. You sure you have your names/dates correct?

Well :_nana: :_nana: OK, I think he bent the rules a bit for this one. Those would be classified as cameo's or narratives/voice overs, not "Star" roles. This was a TV documentary not a theatrical release....... cheater :P

I must agree with Rogue, We Were Soldiers was amazing. I can't imagine being in the Vietnam War... my dad has only rarely talked about it.

Yeah, We Were Soldiers was outstanding. I have to say I like the way movies are portraying the fighting since Private Ryan. Showing it as real as possible instead of "Rambo" style. It really gives an appreciation for the hell Vets have endured.

I know there are many great movies, but I like most "Apocalypse Now" and from naval warfare great German submarine movie "Das Boot"

Sub movies are always good because of the tension they build. I love em!

Have seen virtually every movie about Vietnam released including We Were Soldiers, but none can hold a candle to Dear America because its made of actual footage and uses the words of people who fought there. Very, very powerful, get it and see. Also it was released on general cinema circuit, but then made it to TV as a documentary. I know this cos I'm old and remember going to see it. :)
