Firewall open port 8866?
If that doesn't work, sounds like a good excuse to buy/built a new machine!
My power supply fan failed, and I used that as an excuse

Also make dow a trusted host / source -ie open all ports to www.dow-sniper.net dow-sniper.net dow-games.net www.dow-games.net images.dow-games.net etc etc..

I think it is something more complicated guys, I get the same error and it also blocks the website if I go in by the regular www.dow-sniper.net I have no idea whats doing this as I have no firewall. For some reason it let me on this time when I used a link straight to the forum. Any ideas would be appreciated
edit-
apparently the problem with entering the website was a coincidence cause now I can get on the website but I still get the socket error. very odd indeed, by the by I can get on the backup ts(maury's) no problem whatsoever. I'm stumped on this one :?

No clue guys. I have 3 different firwalls running. ZoneAlarm, an ISS by blackice and Cisco PIX box. I just had to put dow as a trusted source / host and open some ports and it works.
Without putting a sniffer on your line or knowing the exact setttings / setup of your system it's just a shot in the dark (SWAG) Scientific Wild Ass Guess..

I get the same error when trying to connect to the Oc homeLAN server ( ftp3.homelan.com:8072 ) but i never get it on any other server :? i don't understand it either.... just guess it is a communication problem between the server and client on some servers.

drakh change your ip from the domain name to the ip 69.57.128.203:8866 And I bet you will slip right in. I just did that and it is connecting fine now. I still think its strange though, but I'm happy now :D

go to your gateway and turn the firewall off pete.
What kind of gateway do you have!!! I think most of them don't allow you to turn your Firewall off (I know all of the ones I have ever dealt with wouldn't)
