As for the influx it's one of three reasons:

a) New revision to a hack that many users d/l and try in the same rough timespan.
b) Random chunk of noobs eager to see what the hack is all about.
c) You've heard of mass suicide, this is mass stupidocide.

I beleive it is a generic term for the process used by the hack. It "hooks" onto a layer of the OS between the video driver and the game, or something like that. I am certainly not sure about this though, just what i recall.

yes, maury is correct, it hooks the game before you load into a server and "opens/inserts" the hacking program.

A feeble attempt to get around the game if you ask me. First they try eliminating graphical references to avoid screenshots, next they try to find any available opening hoping for a leak.

The only game hook exempt from kicking is game hook #120008, but I think PB fixed that problem shortly after 2.0 came out.

It cracks me up when I wonder how these EvilHack creaters aren't smart enough to figure that the AA people can just d/l it themselves and decompile it to find out how to beat it. I mean come on do they really think the Army doesn't have it's Own hackers??

Well, they even put up a disclaimer that it will not sheild them against PB. The hacks made by the "Evil Ones" even tell people not to try it on any server with PB enabled.

I think it's funny that people try stuff like that, even though they've been warned many times and have seen people fall from it.

hey i thought i'd pop in and mention something....
i have seen alot of people with violations on our servers, but "GAME HOOK" i am not sure is... well, a game hook supposedly is a hack or something, but we have had countless violations on perfectly innocent people for game hook.... i really dont know anything about a game hook but i believe that one may be mistakenly detected by punkbuster sometimes....

i just thought i'd mention it... if you ever find game hooks on your members or someone you can't believe would cheat...

I could be a little behind the times on this one but.....i have seen a video of a version of EH playing on an official server map...this guy played the whole round and it never got him...he had all the old things like x hairs and colours etc....it seems that it has also been made semi open code and some guys are playing around with it...also a section of players called alphas do the testing of it....if I find more i will let you know.

Evenbalance is probably working day and night to figure this one out. It's different because EH uses the Windows Kernal to access Direct X... A mediator sort of...

I figure that's pretty much what AAO does. There's no telling how many accounts they have on there. I've got one but I rarely go there. Just when I see something fishy that I can't identify, I go looking around there. It's funny when you see some idiot post his Config file on there to show how he's getting around PB but doesn't remember to take out his ingame name. We saw that a couple of weeks ago.
