View Full Version : Suggestion for Bridge Map

Hi all
This is my first post (hope its a good one). Pursuant to my pending application I have played the pass and bridge maps regularly in the last two weeks to familiarise with players, tactics rules etc. I am having a ball and hope to continue to do so - thanks for the great servers and support for snipers.
I mentioned the following to the admin on the bridge map this morning and he said I should post it for discussion:
The current rule states that the def limit on the bridge is the third pillar. I have noticed that this often results in 2-3 def players rushing to this limit at spawn, getting in position before assault reach the truck, and taking out substantial numbers of assault players - some with foot shots under the car.
Would it not be fairer to set the def limit at the overturned car to give assault at least some chance of fog cover on their side, and make it harder for def, and thus a more interesting game?
Any comments would be welcome

yes and no I would say.
I noticed that iff I change as soon as possible and run to the truck?
I will be first and reasdy to shoot before def can lay down.
And Yes iff I start running in defense I will be ready to.
It must be the way that peeps change their wapon :P

If def and assault start running at same time def will always get there sooner, because they spawn closer to the tower. As both need to change weapons at spawn this factor is irrelevant. I played yesterday against and with some def players who did this and it pretty much kills the game at the start. Losing 2-3 assault within the first 60 secs turns it into a def turkey shoot - the road snipers sweep the road up to the truck and the tower cover everything else.
I'm not complaining about this - I just think that the game would be more exciting if def were not able to eliminate half of assault at the start simply by lying in the road. After all, where would you really see 3 snipers lying in full view in the middle of road? We are supposed to used stealth aand guile.........

Good points...
We may try your idea about 2nd col.. going to be a tough time getting peeps used to the change, due to most have known the 3rd pillar rules since about aug / sept time frame..

That's why you don't rush on assault. You can run up to the tower and be safe. But after that, you'd better slow down and keep your eyes peeled. 'cause Just about anything past the Assault Tower is visible to Defense players waiting at the 3rd pillar. If you move slowly, patiently, you have a chance of seeing the Defense campers from a longer range, therefore making it less likely that they can hit you.
No matter how far back we set the limit for Defense, there's always going to be lamers who want to push it, and camp on the edge. There's not much we can do about it that will really make a difference, unless we push Defense all the way back to their tower, which no one's ever gonna go for.

Your'e right. I guess i'll have to fill my bag on assault a bit more slowly in future. If anyone would like to try rule changes in specific sessions let me know and I'll be there. See you through the crosshairs.

Tip for assault
don't run like a mad man to the 2nd truck.
Stop at the first truck then kneel down wait until your
CEM ( combat Effectiveness Meter ) fills up
Bring up your scope using SHIFT and Z key
slowly move to right in front of the first truck.
You can see them lying in front of the road
All you need now is a steady hand and a bit luck :)

this is a good point, i think that d shouldn't be allowed past the second pillar. assault can't even get situated on the the road because def is laying down situated on a spot each and if it's 4 v 4 or 5 v 5 then they each get a position to watch in their scope. it's stackin the deck for def. players sit and complain about being on ass and then d always has a one or two man advantage for lack of players.
i also think that there should be an advanced, or -=DoW=- member only server, and/or a way for a player to get a password after he READS the rules on the -DoW=- website?
this would eliminate a lot of mishaps and bellyacking

Yup, just came in a couple days ago. We're getting a bunch of new recruits lately. I think, once we've got the current structure strong and stable, we might start up a Second Batallion. This hasn't really been discussed officially as far as I know, but it's an idea that I remember someone else mentioning to me. I say it'd be great!

I used to always run up and jump under the first truck and crawl and hug the right wall every time. It had been very effective for me. but with 1.6 it seems Defence sees farther and gets to their 3rd pillar positions much quicker and I died every single time. So I switched tactics after a guy told me about using the SHIFT key to creep up with the scope up and looking away to right , left an down to increase your viewing distance. Those two things have helped me immensely.

If some1 is laying on ground near 3rd pillar, he can shoot to legs because they are visible under car. If his position is on arch, he can see ur head above car when u crouch. Both times he is laying and steady and u will be probably dead if u try what cecoto suggests (if he is smart enough :wink: ). I ve killed many people from those 2 positions and was killed there ONLY from behind middle arch where enemy got by ledges and surprised me with leaning. The best is 1 man laying left and second right and they cooperate and have separated target areas - this is nearly unbeatable from the assault road.
But IF assault little bit cooperate, those 2 positions are ticket to heaven (or hell :wink: )
I've seen so many assaulters running behind small car, laying down and being shot at once, so that is the problem of careless players if they want be dead after 30 secs of game ...
I, personally, would let the 3rd pillar rule intact ...
