Further to cobys post in the members area http://www.dow-sniper.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=143 I promised several good non-members that I would start a thread in the public area so they could follow it.

On a recent session in the mountain pass I was inundated on entry with complaints from serious players about rule violators. They wanted to know
how to get hold of an admin when required. The only way I could see would be the use of the in game aairc DOW channel. This would mean the admins would need to be logged in while monitoring.

Is this feasible?

I know admin is a thankless task, but the guys do a great job, and i'd hate to be suggesting something that would cause headaches.

Comments anyone?

I think most admins do have Trillain running while they are playing the game. But most non-dow members do not know how to get in touch with them.

Maybe all admins should be parked in the perm dow channel? While online and doing admin duties

I am trying to be on the DoW IRC channel whenever playing, and if necessary i can post my MSN address for contact purposes. Unfortuneately, if its an email, it wil likely go to junkmail, but i guess it cant hurt.

I'm always on the -=DoW=- channel when I'm in-game. Unfortunately, since AAIRC puts a flag up for every ping the server sends to me, I sometimes ignore the "New IRC Message" notice. Still, I can usually be found in AAIRC whenever I'm in-game, whether I'm adminning or not. Sometimes I'd even find myself being pulled from a game on an Official Server, to fix an issue on the -=DoW=- servers.

/nick (name) <<< Changes your SN
/ns help register <<< Tells you how to register your SN so no one else can use it.
/ns identify (password) <<< After you've registered, use this to identify yourself with the server, or it will change your SN after a delay. You can set AAIRC to auto-identify yourself if you want it to.
