After Maurys post and the other music oriented posts it seems to me there are alot of guitar players in our ranks. Who are you and what do you play and what through? I play a Kramer custom 1, through a Fender deluxe 85 and a Digitech RPx 400. Ohh and I'm lost in the eighties, Iron Maiden, Priest, and the rest of the ole guys whose names our cadets have never heard of.

I have a Gibson-Martin Rose (6 string - beautiful guitar :D ) and a Yamaha 335 (my first - still sounds nice.) For you noobs, these are all acoustic - never got the feel for electric. I drilled a hole for a pick-up in my old Yamaha, and used to have an old Crate amp. We rocked in the 70's and 80's, but I haven't played much lately .

Takamine 6 string semi-acoustic.
What do I play - anything simple (self taught and I don't know much).
My first guitar.

mine is a peavey. it is almost identical to a fender stratocaster, which my cousin has a anniversary edition one. The neck is not as thick on mine, other than that it feels almost the same when playing. btw flanik is quite good I have heard him

Coby if you aint heard of Judas Priest or Iron Maiden, then get rid of your avatar and replace it with one with short hair, and a pocket pen protector. :banger: :banger:

I play a Yamaha Gibson knock off through a Peavey Amp (model name escapes me, its kinda old, and a little dustly cause i havent played it in 4 years, same with the guitar.) My poor little distortion pedal is all messed up, been stomped on an awful lot. Has a nasty hum now.
See this thread for more info on my possible future purchase.

Guitars - Fender strat, G&L asat, Fender Mustang, Gibson Les Paul studio, and Ibanez acoustic/elec.
Amps - Fender Twin reverb (circa 70's), Fender Bandmaster (ciraca 70"s), Vox Cambridge Reverb (4sale), and Sovtex Mig head.
I play almost everything but, play mostly classic rock era things.
And PO I think Coby meant he never heard of those bands Shaken had mentioned, not the cadets.

I play an Epiphone Les Paul Studio Custom, usually through my vintage Eppy amp, but quite often through a Fender Deluxe. I also have an Ovation Celebrity 6 string with a passive thinline pickup in it, but I normally play a Taylor 414-CE acoustic/electric - Grand Concert body with cutout (BEAUTIFUL!). I usually play through a direct box when I play, but sometimes I bust out my Trace Elliot acoustic amp with chorus and reverb options. For my electric, I use a Marshal Blues distortion pedal, and a DOD Chorus pedal. I have a Boss TU-12 chromatic tuner that I use for both (with a couple A/B switches).
I lead worship at my church's Youth Ministry every Wed night (play both acoustic and electric) and I play electric for my church's worship band every Sunday morn. Whenever the worship pastor is out of town, I end up leading worship on those Sundays, usually via the Taylor.
I play a little here and there at other venues, but worship is my primary role. I used to be in a band called 7th Day Dawn, out of Detroit. We did a short tour of the Northeast a few years back, but we all went our seperate ways. Right now, another member of 7DD and myself are working to get some of our songs published into the music industry.
There you have my guitar story :)
oh yeah, I play bass and drums too :banger:

Cold, switching from guitar to bass is ridiculously easy. Just play any major chord, and find the bass note on that chord, and that is the note you play on bass. Even easier, play power chords on the guitar, and wherever your pointer finger is on that particular chord, that is the bass note.
Easy stuff.

Cold, you can play bass through a standard guitar amp - it just simply won't sound near as good. If you want to play bass seriously, then you will want to eventually get a bass amp (Carvins are good).

Well, I mentioned what I currently have as far as guitars right now, but I am currently looking to purchase some additional stuff:
Taylor 810 6 string acoustic with thinline active pickup
Alvarez acoustic with onboard EQ
Also looking to purchase a Carvin bass guitar too . . . debating a 5 string :)
