If a River Basin server went up i suggest the following rules to aid in gameplay....
Equipment:
Sniper Rifle Only!!! No smoke, flash, NVG
ROE:
Assault:
Must wait 1:30 before starting. This allows Def to get in position
and provides a realistic atmosphere. (you wouldn't be racing OPFOR
to there own base of OP's)
This time is best spent grouping and planning use it to your
advantage.
The whole terrain is in play. Enjoy and happy hunting.
Defense:
You have 1:30 to get into positions in the following legal areas
before ASS begins it movement.
Legal area is Charlie and Alpha OBJ areas only as defined below.
Charlie: The hill top area including the house and HEMMT
The marked roadway to Alpha.
Alpha: All of Alpha area, including Hemmt and structure areas.

In the past I have run the map on my server but recently have been stuck on Mountain pass. We always had it where the defense had full range of the map but assault was allowed to complete the objectives, thus forcing defense to defend. I have to say I don’t like the idea of sitting idle for a Minute and a half. That rule would be almost impossible to enforce, the most common problem I have is people trying to endgame because they died and can’t wait for the rest of their team to die. Also since all three objectives have to be completed it allows defense to set up at the next objective and wait for the assault to arrive. :2cents:

I have to I like say Mschadt's way. River basin is just too big. Too many restricting rules will make it too hard and not very realistic. True you wouldn't have two sniper teams racing against each other but this isn't an ordinary map. It's a MILES and doesn't even normally have sniper rifles.

Points taken, thank you for feedback...
I like Mschadt's way as well with all OBJ's in play. This was a try to "shrink" the map for when the server is at a 1 on 1, 2 on 2 level as can happen.
Any time DEF has the advantage of setting up the realism factor increases, that's just military life. As for the time issue I highly agree that it would be hugely hard ( ) to police, but it would make getting a plan together much better.
It may be more of a sniper map than you think. Often "recon" groups are required to slither up to an OBJ for photo recon and or target ident with little cover. Every move becomes a three act play. obviuosly we don't have that kind of time but you catch the point i think.
I put this up here in response to something I read from Coby Wan about the map being too open for small games, and since we often ignore the original OBJ's they weren't even in my brain. I like the map and it's setup and would like to play it more often.
This whole concept may need to be a scheduled member only affair to try out the time delay issue.
Again thanks for the input as I am noting ideas to rework these prelim ROE.

Current rules on River Basin, written by yours truly:
Equipment
Assault is allowed three smoke grenades per player. No flashbangs will be issued.
Night Vision Goggles will not be issued.
Boundaries
Both Assault and Defense have free reign over the entire map.
Objectives
Assault's primary objective is to plant the explosive charges under each Hemtt.
Assault's secondary objective is to eliminate all OPFOR encountered.
Defense's objective is to defend all the Hemtts, and eliminate all OPFOR which threaten the security of the Hemtts.
I really don't think there's too much room to tweak these rules without making them either too restrictive, or too difficult to enforce (or both). Along with that, I don't see much of a way that any more restrictive rules on this map would enhance the gameplay.

Hey if I don't throw ideas out there I'll never know if they're good right?
I am very glad to see some input regardless of thumbs up or down.
