I have the opportunity of getting XP Pro for next to nothing, well it is nothing, I have XP home and I'm wondering if it is worth switching over

I say no, the only advantage it has is dual processor support, and the ability to connect to a domain. There are a few other features, but nothing major. If you are talking like 20$ GO FOR IT. but if its any amount of money, dont bother. Again, my :2cents:

I've heard a lot of people say that if you have the money you should get Pro, NQA. Some have even mentioned that they actually have problems with Home.

I have both Homa and Pro on different machines.... no real difference except the ones listed by others. $20.00 = Sure...$50.00 = Pass :D

Free is the best price of all!. As long as you can get it to play nice with your memory. You gunna be able to activate it? :?:

Well, I'm using Pro right now. Actually plays quite nice with my RAM. Nicer than any of the 9x versions did. I was even able to get my second 512 stick in there, and it's doing fine.

tried it on my laptop just to test gives me the same error. Also a compaq jobbie. Talked with a compaq techie online. He said that compaq machines don't support XP Pro. I might have to get a new board before I can install it.
