I forgot who was telling me about this on Teamspeak last night but this is what I heard from the guy, who heard from the people, who all posted on a forum so take this for what it's worth.
Homey started and runs AAO Tracker which is completely separate than AAO and its development team.
Homey posted on a forum, either his or AAOs, that the DEVs basically suck and accused them of hacking their own game. They took offense to this and hilarity (read: flamming) ensued.
It was also brought up that one of the DEVs used his same password on the AAO tracker site and that Homey might have realized this and used the DEVs account to leak a number of things before their release date.
The DEVs also talked about how the Homey guy didn't really do everything himself and he just took credit, and that it was simple to create a tracker and the only reason people used his was because he cornered the market early on.
So that is the short and simple version of what I heard was going on. Please remember this information is second and third hand so do with it what you will.

Yup... I didn't want to have to read through all of it so I just got the down and dirty version from some fine, upstanding -=DoW=- member on Teamspeak (Whoever you were).

Here's something new.
From [DEV]AceKilla:
QUOTE
For the record - It is not nor has it ever been the intent of the AA Dev Team to 'out-do' the AAO Tracker or have it eliminated or made inoperable. In fact we celebrate its existence and the service it provides to the community. We may at some point roll out our own stat system for the community, however this has nothing to do with the current AAO Tracker and everything to do with providing our community with an integrated stats engine. An integrated stats engine can provide many more statistics than one could pull out of Gamespy queries – such as ‘per bullet’ weapon accuracy stats (per weapon), or how many teammates you have healed as a medic, etc. Again, this would be provided based on feedback and desires from the community, not to ‘eliminate’ the current AAO Tracker – in fact, we would be happy to see the current AAO Tracker coexist.
As far as the current existing bugs in v2.1 - I can tell you that we (the AA dev team) take full responsibility for all of the game client related bugs currently in the game including this common GPF many players are experiencing. We are not happy these bugs are in the game, but ultimately the responsibility for their existence falls on our shoulders. I can tell you that we are fixing these persistent bugs as we speak (in fact, most are already fixed in internal builds).
(BTW, the best way to avoid the common spectating GPF is to only spectate in first-person mode - I know it's not ideal, but it avoids the common GPF while spectating the M82, M24, and other older weapons)
As I stated these bugs are our responsibility and we are just as frustrated as you are that they exist in the current public build of AA. Our beta testers are not to be blamed for the bugs currently in AA. These testers are volunteers and they are some of the most loyal and dedicated group of AA players currently playing the game. For every bug that still exists - there were 100 more that were squashed thanks to the tireless efforts of our beta testers. If you're looking to blame someone for these bugs, please blame us alone.
I won't comment on much of the content in these latest forum threads, because quite frankly it saddens me to see AA community members being so disrespectful with each other. However, I understand your frustration. I can tell you that we do listen to the community, in fact many of the game's new content comes directly from feedback we get from the community. Just because we do not post or idle in IRC does not mean we are not in touch with the AA community. We just happen to be extremely busy and it's way too easy to get sucked into forum threads and IRC conversations. Razz
I can tell you that 'we hear you' and that we are doing everything in our power to fix these issues and to continue to make this game better. There is a whole bunch of exciting new features, versions, and content on the way (and yes bugfixes!).
Please be patient with us as we fix these current issues with the game. And please be respectful of each other in the community - most of your heated debate comes from your shared passion for this game - on both sides. Try to remember that common trait when interacting with each other. Having true Army values (Respect, Loyalty, Duty, Honor, Integrity, Selfless-Service, Personal Courage) will always be more important than having 'l337 skillz' in the Army's game.
Yea right

SCI can't even handle the auth load, how the heck can they handle "‘per bullet’ weapon accuracy". For every person authorized on the server, the same person sprays out several thousand bullets. If you got an award for 5+ hours on a server, maybe a million.
