S2-A

On behalf of myself and the S2 section I would like to apologise for any distress caused to both players by the cheating accusation released yesterday. It has now become apparent that they were not using a cheat/hack, but an exploit that was only brought to light after the accusation was made.
Although a public explanation of this type of incident would not be normal, I feel that the debate sparked by it, and the causes in the first place require clarification, as it has ramifications on both the way our members behave and the game is played on our servers.
As clarification for the accusation, and to assure you that it was not made lightly, I would like to share the following:
1.Complaints had been leveled at both players for this tactic, and most complaints mentioned the word 'cheating'
2. We received negative reports from several admins who had watched both players and could not square what they were seeing with known gameplay and physics.
3. Members of S2 spent several hours on closed server testing all weapons to try and replicate the tactic, and all were unsuccessful until an Aimbot was used. At this point no difference could be seen between this tactic and an aimbot.
Think about that: This tactic cannot be improved by using an aimbot.
4. Only after the accusation was made was an explanation forthcoming from both players, and one other. None of the hundreds of players using our servers knew of this, and those who did, did not tell anyone about it.
Had this information been initially shared with command, it would have been ruled on, and the incident would not have come to this.
Should Mr Risk have shared this with this command as soon as he discovered it? Absolutely. Is it his fault that he did not? No, its ours.
We let Mr Risk down by not taking the time to explain to him when he joined what our clan ethics are with regard to both gameplay and teamplay. The sharp increase in recruitment lately has meant that many of us have not had, or taken the time to fully explain to all the new recruits what being a member of this clan means.
The very word 'clan' denotes a close knit community who share everything, including tactics that make us all better players, and therefore a better clan. A tactic that improves one should improve all.
Frag rates are fun to compare, and a good round where you make more kills than normal is a great buzz. But using a tactic that no one else knows,
that puts your clan members at such a disadvantage that they would rather not play with you, is not what we are about.
The Tactic
This Tactic has been ruled against on our servers
I am not going to explain it, suffice to say that it circumvents normal target aquisition time to allow a player to pop up, shoot, make a kill and duck in under two seconds - in other words, the equivalent of an M16 with a scope.
I will go into details as to why we have ruled against it:
To use it you must rush to the arch, throw smoke, get to the top of the arch, and start to kill people asap.
Our rules are very strict on rushing as a tactic - snipers don't rush - it is not allowed
Ours are sniper servers - that means being stealthy, sneaky, patient, and above all, going for sniper kills - long single shots.
This tactic negates all of these ethics - real snipers would not rush to an exposed position, climb to a more exposed postion (from which there is little chance of escape) and then pop up and down like frogs shooting blindly.
If you wish to use, or believe that we should allow this tactic to be used on our servers, you are in the wrong clan.
Anybody caught using this tactic in future will be banned
Lastly it is not the intention, nor wish of the S2 Section to victimise or casually accuse anybody of cheating - we spend much time and effort to prove the opposite.
