Niether are particularly important to what you see on the screen,.
Response time is the all important measurement, 10ms response time is GREAT, 15ms is still good and 20 is about average for an lcd.

Is this for a TV or monitor?

Well my Mom is getting me the Apple 17" LCD Studio Display (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58823) for christmas, she had to tell me what she was getting me to know whether I could connect to it.

If the monitor has a DVI connection, should be ok.
But, Apple monitors do NOT have native support for pc equipment! As far as i know, not got PDF viewer installed so cant see the specs.
There are adapters out though...

Double check first buddy!

My Mom has been hanging out at the Apple Store and had asked the store clerks about it. I even asked them and they say it would be fine. I've seen the monitor in person at the store and it looks beautiful. Now all I can hope is that the store clerk was telling the truth.

The Apple Studio Display 17 (LCD) uses the Apple Display Connector (ADC), which has one connector to send power, video signal, and USB from the computer to the monitor.

I would not be too sure buddy, think you will need to get a converter too.
I am pretty sure the ADC is incompatible with a PC!!

Pretty sure the Apple has the Digital input that NVidia cards have. NOT positive though.

They look similar sledge, but the wiring is different.

Note: Displays utilizing an Apple Display Connector require a Macintosh computer with an ADC video card. Apple ADC displays are not supported on Windows based computers because they lack the power line to drive the display.

I reckon the sales clerk knows nothing!"

Smokie i think its possible to use that monitor on a windows pc. If you have a DVI vid cart.
http://www.dviator.com/en/DVIator.html

There are stores in the USA also.
I hope this helps you.

Well I have a 6800 with a VGA and DVI port but I wasn't sure how the ADC splits off the power. The ADC does power, USB, Firewire, and power all through the same line. I'm gonna go check out my local CompUSA to see what I can find out. I would go to the Apple Store but It's inside a mall and it's really scary in there.

My Mom mentioned an adapter or somethin so I have a feelin that all will be well this Christmas. Why oh why she went to the Apple Store for a monitor I'll never know but Merry Christmas anyway.
