Battalion, Please Congratulate the following on his well deserved promotion to;
Sergeant First Class (Platoon Sergeant) 4th Platoon
Duties to include, but not limited to;
-Sergeant First Class (Platoon Sergeant)
- During the Vietnam era, the platoon sergeant was affectionately referred to as the "Plat-Daddy", and although the term has since faded, the role remains that of the "Father of the Platoon". Responsible for their Platoons direction. Reviews current Platoons duty roster, training, and discipline, and makes changes as needed. Will handle any scheduling conflicts within their assigned Platoons. Will report to 1st Sgt. On weekly activities (awards, promotions, platoon duty assignments)and will be responsible to see orders carried out by same. May delegate authority to Squad leaders.
This person exemplifies what the ""Father of the Platoon" is.
