I need a laptop that specs out to the following minimum stanfards:
HD - (2) Dual Bay 7200RPM @ 60+Gig (Has to be 2 seperate drives b/c it'll be running oracle AND documentum)
RAM - 4 Gig (tough to find!)
Processor - P4 HT @ 2.8+GHz
Vid - GeForce 256MB DDR3 or equiv
Optical - DVD +/- DL or better
Seems that Alienware has one that fits, but it costs more than my new car. Anyone know any other vendors that make such a beast?
Looking forward to your input! :)

WOW!!!! You aren't asking for much are you?!?!? Sheesh... And what in the heck do you intend to use that beast for???
There are only a few "retail" manufacturers that will even come close to matching this. Your best bet, is to have someone help you build one. That way you have better control of the stuff you do/don't want or need. Typically, you will also save money by building your own.
As far as retail:
Falcon Northwest:
Cost $5,369.42
HDD: 2x Hitachi Travelstar 60 Gig 7200RPM
RAM: 2048MB (4x512) DDR2-LL
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 650 3.4GHz 2MB 2L 64 Bit
Video: GeForce 6800Go 256MB GDDR3
Optical: 8x DVD+-RW Drive
Voodoo:
Price: $4196.99
HDD: 2x Hitachi Travelstar 60 Gig 7200RPM
RAM: 2048MB Voodoo DDR2 533MHz SODIMM kit
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 540 3.2GHz
Video: GeForce 6800Go 256MB GDDR3
Optical: 8x Envy DVD+-RW dual layer slot-load DVD & CD Writer
HyperSonic:
Price: $3598.00
HDD: 2x 60 Gig 7200RPM Ultra ATA w/ 8MB Cache
RAM: 4GB PC4200 DDR2-533MHz SODIMM
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 530 3.0GHz
Video: GeForce 6800Go 256MB GDDR3
Optical: 8x DVD+-RW dual layer w/ DVD recording software
Remeber, the only modifications I performed where those that you required. Not all of these systems met your specs, but they are as close as the companies came to what you would need. This was more to give you a place to look and a price idea than anything.
I hope this helps. If you need anything else please just ask...

It looks like Alienware and Hypersonic just mod original Clevo products and sell with their brand... Clevo is tiawanese though, and I'm sure support options will be quite limited... That Hypersonic looked pretty darn close though! Thanks for the input...
This will be used as a presentation machine for the software we develop. It has to be able to run a full oracle DB engine and a bunch of other application on top of it... pain in the butt, I know...
Thanks again, you were very helpful!

Don't know if they still do but Dell used to build them to customer specs

They do; however, they are not typically a high end retailer. They are more of a economy retailer, even though they tend to over charge. Most of their systems are are decent; however, they limit your selections. On there laptops, you have to get an external HDD in order to have two. There top of the line laptop uses the new Pentium M processor @ 2.17GHz, you can only have 2GB RAM, plus you will still be paying close to the same price as you would for the HyperSonic. My point being, Dell has good customer service, that is really about it...

Looks like a decent site for parts. There selection of prebuilt PC's are somewhat lacking though
